Brief description of the Club

The club members are hobbyists drawn together by a common interest in railroading and model railroading. The club was chartered on May 19, 1974 as a non profit organization. Operations are conducted by officers and a board of directors, and are governed by a constitution and bylaws. Membership is open to men and women of all ages.  Visitors and prospective members are always welcome at all the group's activities.  For information on NMRA membership see NMRA website , or for the SER website .

WNC Train Show

Each year the club holds its annual Western North Carolina Train Show. This event, which attracts hundreds of spectators, features operating layouts and numerous vendors selling unusual hobby related items. It has become a tradition in the mountain area. Thanks to all who visited us on May 23 & 24, 2008.

Regular meeting are scheduled for the first Thursday of each month,
beginning at 7:00 PM

We meet every month except July, in the administration building of Eliada Home

Programs at the meetings are designed to provide information about railroading and model railroading, to help improve skills in various areas of model railroading and to offer opportunities for members to participate in model railroading activities and events at local, regional, and national levels.
Clinics cover a wide range of topics, including layout construction, scenery techniques, wiring, weathering, and prototypical operation to name a few. Other events include the annual white elephant sale that offers bargains for the members, contests to test member's model building skills, and occasional field trips to observe railroading in real life.
